Specialist Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist
Dr Neha Tiwari is a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist. She completed her physician training at Concord Hospital and core gastroenterology training at Nepean Hospital. Following this, she went on to complete a fellowship in hepatology at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. After obtaining her FRACP in 2021, she embarked on an overseas fellowship at the world-renowned Toronto General Hospital, Canada, specialising in advanced hepatology (portal hypertension) under the supervision of Dr Florence Wong.

Expertise
Dr Tiwari manages all aspects of gastrointestinal disorders, including reflux, dysphagia, and the assessment of gastrointestinal bleeding, including positive FOBT and iron deficiency anaemia, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and bowel cancer surveillance.

She has a specialist interest in liver disease, including alcohol and metabolic-associated fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver disease, viral hepatitis (hepatitis B and C), complications of liver cirrhosis, and liver cancer prevention and treatment.

She has a keen interest in research and clinical trials and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work at conferences locally and internationally.

Appointments
Dr Tiwari performs procedures at Macquarie University Hospital and on the South Coast (Wollongong Day Surgery and Wollongong Hospital). She is a Staff Specialist Gastroenterologist at Wollongong Hospital, where she also runs the hepatology service. She is accredited for gastroscopy and colonoscopy by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE) with an above-average polyp detection rate.

Meet Dr Tiwari
Dr Tiwari was born and raised in the Eastwood-Epping area, where she continues to live. She enjoys going on hikes and morning swims. She loves travelling and is currently learning how to master coffee brewing and espresso making at home.
