Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist
Dr Shaleen Sivanes is a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who is committed at providing expert, compassionate and holistic care towards her patients. She graduated from the University of New South Wales and underwent her gastroenterology advanced training at The Canberra Hospital and Nepean Hospital in Sydney. After obtaining Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), she embarked on an advanced clinical Hepatology and Transplant fellowship at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Scotland. She has worked as a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist in tertiary level hospitals in Sydney and Canberra including the Canberra Hospital, Bankstown Hospital and Nepean Hospital.

Expertise
Dr Sivanes has a keen interest in all areas of gastroenterology and hepatology including colorectal cancer screening, functional gastrointestinal disorders and liver disease. She has a sub-speciality interest in liver disease, especially viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease (metabolically associated and alcoholic liver disease) as well as high risk liver cancer screening and treatment. In addition to her clinical work at Nepean Hospital, she is involved in numerous clinical trials, as well as teaching and supervision of junior doctors and medical students.

Appointments
Dr Sivanes is currently a Staff Specialist at Nepean Public Hospital where she undertakes regular clinics in general gastroenterology, high risk liver cancer and does regular endoscopies. She is also performs endoscopy procedures at Alexandria Specialist Day Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital. She is accredited to perform both gastroscopy and colonoscopy by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE).
