She completed her physician training at Concord Hospital and core gastroenterology training at Nepean Hospital. Following this, she went on to complete a fellowship in hepatology at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. After obtaining her FRACP in 2021, she embarked on an overseas fellowship at the world-renowned Toronto General Hospital, Canada, specialising in advanced hepatology (portal hypertension) under the supervision of Dr Florence Wong. -

Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist Dr Shaleen Sivanes is a consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who is committed at providing expert, compassionate and holistic care towards her patients. She graduated from the University of New South Wales and underwent her gastroenterology advanced training at The Canberra Hospital and Nepean Hospital in Sydney. After obtaining Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), she embarked on an advanced clinical Hepatology and Transplant fellowship at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Scotland. She has worked as a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist in tertiary level hospitals in Sydney and Canberra including the Canberra Hospital, Bankstown Hospital and Nepean Hospital.

Dr Mifanwy Reece
Specialist Colorectal & General Surgeon Dr Reece completed her medical degree at The University of Sydney and underwent General Surgical training at Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals, obtaining FRACS in 2019. She completed CSSANZ Colorectal Fellowship Training at the Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide and at Concord Hospital.

Dr Chris Kiely
Specialist Gastroenterologist Dr Kiely studied medicine at Sydney University, graduating in 2008. He subsequently undertook specialist training in gastroenterology at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, gaining fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2014. During this time, he developed a special interest in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). This was further refined over two years while working at Canberra Hospital and in the United Kingdom, where he was the senior clinical fellow in IBD at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. He completed a PhD focussed on IBD through the Australian National University and has multiple peer-review publications in this area. -
Dr Nemes Sandanayake
Dr Neomal (Nemes) Sandanayake graduated in medicine from The University of Sydney in 1998, undergoing his physician and gastroenterology training at Royal Prince Alfred, Concord and Royal North Shore Hospitals between 1998 and 2005. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2006 for an endoscopy Fellowship at University College London Hospital, and between 2007 and 2010 undertook research in pancreatic and bile duct cancer for which he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine by The University of Sydney.
