Dr Wiseman undertook her medical training at the University of Sydney, where she graduated with Honours. She completed her general medical and physician training at Royal North Shore, Concord, Liverpool and Gosford Hospitals before obtaining fellowship to the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2008.

Dr Wiseman offers comprehensive and holistic care for her patients. She has a special interest in treating patients with irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease and screening for bowel cancer. She offers her patients practical advice for the management of common gastrointestinal complaints and takes time to explain their conditions and different treatment approaches.
Appointments
Dr Wiseman is the Head of the Department of Gastroenterology at Ryde Hospital, the local
public hospital adjacent to the consulting rooms, where she is on call for gastrointestinal consultations and has a public endoscopy list. She also supervises registrars and junior medical officers and contributes to their training and mentoring. She is closely involved in aspects of planning and the design of the $479 million redevelopment of Ryde Hospital, which will be undertaken over the next 5 years.
Dr Wiseman is the senior clinician at Sydney Gastrointestinal Specialists and is an accredited consultant at Macquarie University Hospital (MUH) where she collaborates closely with other specialists. She performs endoscopic procedures including gastroscopies and colonoscopies at MUH and at Pennant Hills Day Surgery. She offers no-gap billing for procedures for most patients with private health insurance. She is a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and has been accredited for colonoscopy and gastroscopy by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, with polyp detection rates well about the expected levels.
Meet Dr Wiseman
Elke lives in Sydney with her husband and children. She loves music and sings regularly in between ferrying her children to swimming and piano lessons or collecting honey and chicken eggs in their back garden oasis.
